Sometimes you try something and it just doesn't work out. I remember a mentor of mine from college sharing that her daughter had picked up and moved from New York to Los Angeles and then back when it didn't work out. She mentioned that her generation would have viewed that as failure. Not her daughter. She wanted to give it a try. So she did. It turned out not to be the right thing at that time of her life. She went back to New York and moved on with her life. That was it. It's not that it didn't matter to her. But it didn't define her. Sometimes when we think we've failed, it is simply that something has ended. We just haven't given ourselves permission to look at it that way. It is even harder though when we've invested so much of ourselves. Maybe you've outgrown a longstanding job you are really good at or the job no longer fits your interests. Perhaps an old friendship is fading. In both cases, no one did anything wrong. You've become a different person. At the same time, that job may be your identity. Or that friendship may be the center of your social circle. You may fear what letting them go brings. There is a hole and you might not know what goes there, if anything. Maybe you just need the space. You don't have to know what comes next. But it helps to know which season you're in. What Season Are You In?What Season Are You In? is a brief guided reflection to help you notice what may be changing in your life, what still fits, and what this season may be asking of you And, it's free.
